Scottish Chamber Orchestra

Outer Hebrides Music Service has recently been successful in forging a new partnership with the world renowned 'Scottish Chamber Orchestra'.  As a result, some of the orchestra's members will be running a one day workshop on composition, at the Town Hall in Stornoway on the 20th of September2017.  The workshop is part of the orchestra's Masterworks series and presents a fantastic opportunity for pupils to experience the excitement of a live orchestra up close, and to hone their listening, performing, composing and improvising skills through experiential workshops led by expert SCO musicians. Masterworks opens up new sound-worlds to young people, encourages them to listen to a wider variety of genres, and equips them with knowledge and musical tools to be more adventurous in their own compositions.

OHMS has arranged for music students from The Nicolson Institute, Castlebay, Lionacleit and Sir E Scott to attend.  Gavin Woods music development officer of OHMS said 'this is a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn from the very best musicians Scotland has to offer.

We are all very excited about the prospect of SCO members visiting us and can't wait to hear what they have to offer'.  A link to a video all about Masterworks is given here:https://youtu.be/i4GSGIoERTg
